Beau is one of nine puppies from the first litter of Ladybaby and Int. Ch. "ET" van Alain Alearts from Dodgy Dog Basenji kennel, he is our first basenji and from the moment we saw him it was love at first sight. Beau combines a lot of the early Avongara imports and this is very noticeable in his prey drive. On the beach I have to work hard to keep him out of the dunes and during walks through the forest his nose and instinct are working overtime picking up trails. Beau is one of nine puppies and we are happy to have good contact with two of Beau's sisters and with one brother. Together with Jeroen's mother we started our basenji-adventure and have been hooked ever since.
We started puppy class with Beau and found it a fun and positive activity. We were told that basenjis can't be trained, but we soon found out this is not true. With the right motivation, keeping the training sessions short and sweet and by being inventive and using our sense of humor, we could keep Beau motivated and eager to learn. After the basic obedience class, we went on the average obedience class and after that successfully completed the obedience advanced class. As we wanted to keep training with Beau we started Agility, which we both really enjoy!
Thanks to Alain Alearts we started showing Beau and he obtained his Dutch Junior Champion title within the minimum of three shows. After that he was shown in the Open Class and obtained all his Dutch Champion title around the age of 2,5 years old. Alain has handled Beau with loads of talent and we are very grateful for everything he has done!
Beau has been active on the racetrack and coursing field as well, and not without result. He won the CAVOM Ren Basenji Cup 2018 and added a few track records to his name.
Beau is a sensitive male, the phrase "cold hands, warm heart" suits him really well. Until he was approximately 3 years old we could not find any of the typical basenji-male characteristics that applied to him. He loved, and got along with, any and every dog he met and played with all of them. At the moment he can be dominant to other intact basenji males but is mostly fine with dogs from other breeds. Beau loves to go on hikes, run alongside the bike, play with his (basenji) friends. Most of all he loves running on the racetrack and coursing field and is completely in love with Illy.
Beau is currenly show in the Veteran Class, he obtained his Dutch Veteran Champion Title within the minimal of 3 shows with a BOS, BoB and Best Veteran kwalification.
Beau's sperm will be collected and stored season 2023.
Beau is available for stud. Please contact me if you have questions or are interested in using Beau for breeding.
